One of the perks of using solar for your needs is that there are several rebates and programs depending on the province you’re located in, which help keep the costs low while introducing solar to agriculture, commercial, and residential needs. Below are some of the most popular Solar Rebates in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, and throughout Canada.
Agriculture – Saskatchewan Rebate
A Saskatchewan solar rebate of $500 from Saskpower when a solar powered pump is purchased for a farm, all that is required is a proof of purchase.
Canadian Agricultural Partnership
The Federal and Provincial Governments have once again teamed up and replaced the Growing Forward Program with another cost shared initiative, the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) that is administered by the provinces. Each province varies slightly, and the details are below, but, our systems are typically eligible for a 50% rebate. We’re working hard to understand the programs, so please contact us if you have any questions.
Alberta CAP Programs
Alberta has 2 programs with funding available under cap, and each program offers a different level of funding.
Environmental Stewardship and Climate Change – Producer
Requires a current (within past 10 years) Alberta Environmental Farm Plan, and has limited application intake dates, our systems qualify for
Application Intake Dates for 2018:
- April 3, 2018 – May 15, 2018
- May 16, 2018 – June 27, 2018
- June 28, 2018 – August 29, 2018
- August 30, 2018 – November 14, 2018
This program requires you speak with an AF Water Speicialist and have completed a Long-Term Water Management plan for your farm (approved plans from GF1 and GF2 are accepted). Our systems qualify for a rebate of 30%.
Farm Energy and Agri-Processing Program (FEAP)
Our energy-free troughs qualify for a 50% rebate.
Ag Action Manitoba
Manitoba has consolidated CAP funding into Ag Action Manitoba

Saskatchewan Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program
There is a 50% rebate available up to $5,000 ($10,000 system cost). The program does limit a producer to the purchaser of 2 systems over the lifetime of CAP, and requires that the producer is creating a new water source (dugout, wet well, groundwater well) to be eligible for the rebate. Saskatchewan Net Metering Program (Residential & Commercial)
SaskPower no longer offers a rebate for customers who install grid-tie solar. The link will provide details about their program, the costs they charge, and the credits for excess energy you produce.
